87 325e temp guage

87 325e temp guage seems to show hot at the 10 o clock positin and cool at the 2 o clock position. THis seems backwards from any convention I have ever seen. Is this an after market guage or did BMW just have dyslexia that year?

Well, I can't /answer/ your question, but for what it's worth, my 1986 325e - with original VDO gauges - shows hot at 2 and cool at 10. Does your 1987 have the VDO dashboard - i.e. does it have the letters "VDO" in the lower center? I ask because I know some original dashes weren't like mine, and were made by another company, so our dashes might not have the same physical gauges, even if they have the same layout.
