wet dme repair
Anyone have luck repairing a wet DME? I don't know if any chips were cooked or not, but the boards sure look to be in bad shape. I was going to clean off the boards well, and re-solder pretty much everything. Should I look into replacing caps and such?
Just wanted to hear if anyone else had experience. -J |

Update
I pulled apart the DME and found some burned traces on the corner of what would be the bottom circuit board, opposite the connector (between the ribon cable and the 6 output transistors) The traces that were burned were near a transistor-looking chip, 'Siemens' brand (couldn't see the number) It had 7 pins. I traced the burned trace across the board, and soldered an external jumper wire from pin 1 of the Siemens transistor/chip to the endpoint of the trace. I also re-touched all of the solder connections in the general area as well as the connections to the 6 output transistors.
I'll update tomorrow if it works. If anyone has information about this particular siemens part I would appreciate part numbers/datasheets and junk. If this doesn't work I think I am going to replace this particular component. -J |
