Replacing Coolant Sensor/Expansion Tank

I'm gonna attempt to rid my world of that balst "check coolant level" obc message this weekend. There are some items I'd like to clarify before starting.

1. Is it possible to remove the sensor without removing the lower radiator hose?

2. If the lower hose needs to be removed, does that drain JUST the coolant in the expansion tank, or the entire system?

3. If removing the lower hose only drains the coolant in the expansion tank, once I take it off, how would I remove the expansion tank itself?

4. Presuming I catch the coolant that drains from the expansion tank with a drain pan, is it alright to put that right back in the tank after it's been reinstalled. My system was done a short time ago.

Basically I'm trying to either replace the sensor, or the whole expansion tank without having to drain the entire cooling system, refill, & bleed. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Anyone?

If I am right the expansion tank is basically just for overflow so if you made sure the hose stayed at or above the same height it is now you shouldn't have to worry about the whole system draining. As far as reusing the coolant, I don't see why you couldn't as long as your catch container is really clean.

Even if you remove the lower rad hose you will only drain the rad to the piont of the thermortat. The entire engine/system won't drain.
