I have a 1987 325e that I got with a bad engine. I have replaced the engine with new timing belt. The engine is a 2.5 and has low mileage. Now for the problem, The car turns over fine and will start for maybe 10 seconds than quit. It will not start after that
again until the next day. I replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor and coil without any luck. I checked today and had fire at coil but not at plugs. Anybody have an ideals, thanks David

Check the timing belt to make sure that you have set the timing correctly. Use this article as a guide:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/techarticles/101-Projects-20-E30-Timing-Belt/101-Projects-20-E30-Timing-Belt.htm If you're not getting spark at the plug, then it sounds like there's a timing problem... -Wayne

Are you using the wiring harness and DME from the 325 i motor or the one from the 2.7l e motor?

Also check your fuel filter if it is partially blocked it wil starve the motor but as fuel slowly seeps through would allow you to start it again at a later time.
