Dash clock display

Hello,
On my 1987 BMW 325e dash clock, 6 buttons, date, time, temp. etc., is this considered the OBC (on board computer)?
Either way, the display went very dark recently, and whenever the air temp is hot the display goes spastic/erratic. I have to push the buttons very hard for it to stop and read normal. I would like to repair the bulb? and have it read normal.
Thanks,
Henry

The obc is the 9 button display that came on the is's. The crazy, matix, spastic, screen is a very comom thing for the 6 button, i know mine does this and a flick of the finger is the only thing that makes it stop. I dont know the part number for the backlight but you can get it. There is a small bulb for the buttons and one for the back light, make sure you get the backlight.

Right - the unit should pop out, and the bulb behind the display is in our catalog...

Wayne,
As far as the erratic display, it sounds like a cracked solder joint, because the warmer the surrounding air is, the harder I have to push on the buttons to make it work. And as soon as I let go, it goes erractic again. Maybe the warmer it is, the larger the crack due to expansion, just guessing though. Any particular place to look for bad solder joints? I'll get on ordering the bulb from you guys soon.
Thanks,
Henry

Well, no specific spots to look at, but you can follow the guidelines I list in my DME repair article, where I discuss "cold solder" and cracked solder joints. Here's the link:
