1991 320i Fuel Gauge not behaving properly
hi Wayne,
my fuel gauge is bouncing up and down and the empty light indicator remains lit the whole time. Is this a ground problem? Is there a step by step procedure on how to take out the cluster found in the book (101 projects)? Do you ship to Asia by the way? Thanks

Yes, we ship to Asia all the time, check the site http://www.101projects.com and use the shopping cart to determine the shipping amount.
In all likelihood, it's the fuel tank sender on your car. 1991 320i, forgive me, that's an overlap year with the US and Europe, is your car an E36 model? If so, the fuel tank sender replacement is detailed in the book. Also detailed here (it's nearly identical to the fuel pump replacement). Actually there are two senders in the E36 - one integrated with the pump and one on the other side (yes, it's a weird system in my opinion). You might have to replace both in order to completely fix the problem. See the article: http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/techarticles/E36-Fuel-Pump/E36-Fuel-Pump.htm -Wayne

fuel gauge
thanks for the info, wayne. It's an e30 last batch i think. The needle seems to be steady when the tank is full then it starts to bounce when there is only around 1/4 fuel left. The light stays on the whole time. Will order your book soon. Thanks again
