E-30 antenna
I'm replacing my antenna mast, because the old one was frozen (failure to lubricate by prior owner). I got the old one out, and my replacement mast is identical. The motor is running fine about 12 seconds up or down. The instructions say just push the nylon cable into the hole while the motor is running down, but it just does not seem to want to catch. After turning the radio on and off about 30 times I disconnected the key-in-the-ignition-door-open-chime (good riddance!). So now I am ready to give it a go once more. 12 seconds to try various directions and pressure is not very long. Any help?

Having the girlfriend turn the radio on and off allowed me to manuever the nylon cable just right. Got it done! I'm not sure you can do it alone.

Cool deal, I haven't tried this myself, but I will make a note of the two-person requirement for future reference...

I just replaced the mast on my E30. The trick is to watch the old mast coming out, and note the direction the nylon teeth are pointing. When you insert the new mast, align the teeth in the same direction. It will go right in!
