Connected pin 7 to pin 19 to turn out oil light. Now no fire!!! Help please.

Car born on 11/87 Model 325is (so it's the 88 model)

After I heard that I can turn out the oil service light myself by connecting the 7 and 19 pin for a few seconds, I was more than happy to give it a try.

There was a spark when I connected them.

Now my car will turn over, but will not fire.

Not to mention that the service light didn't even go out. Insult to injury.

What could it be? Relays? I checked the fuses visually, and they all appear to be solid. How would I check a relay?

Any words of wisdom?

Steven

That picture looks like the pin holes I touched.

I went by the tiny numbers printed next to the holes.
I suppose it's possible that I errantly touched the wrong ones.

I am confused as to why touching any of the pins incorrectly would stop the car from firing. It turns over, but won't fire now.

Still need help with ideas.

OK I would imagine you did use the right holes. The next thing is to find out other people who have done it and make sure the procedure actually works. If it does work then you can assume you made mistake. Personally, I have not shorted the two pins and do not know 1st hand what happens.

If it was me I would do some easy stuff first. Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting it. Then see if it starts.

If not, pull a plug and ground it. See if there is a spark. Take the information and post the results. Maybe someone can help you from there.
