Poor acceleration in 91 318is

I recently bought a 318is with 200k miles. The car uses no/minimal oil and has plenty of power if you stomp on the gas. The engine is a little noisy - unknown origin. I am having a problem with an unsteady idle and very poor acceleration below 3500 RPM. I just replaced the spark plugs and wires, air and fuel filter as well as ran techron in the the last 2 tanks of gas. I'm thinking that air flow meter and vacuum leaks are the most likely problems. Is there anything else I should check?

Thanks!

Should do a smoke test on it to find all vacuum leaks + there is a bulletin to realign cams for better performance
