1989 325i loosing power when heater fan is on
OK boys here's another one for you. I just found out that my E30's cooling system needs to be bled. Now I just have to find the directions for doing this. I did have a small hole in one of my hoses that has been repaired and do have heat now, but now that I have heat I seem to have acquired a new problem.
If you've been following my threads you all know that my timing belt went and I needed a new motor. My Dear Husband had a nice one laying around the garage and just put it in for me. I started driving the car on Monday. Monday went fine, but my thermostat gauge keeps reading above 1/2 going just to the red. Might be that cooling system needs to be bled or one of those wonderful sensors. We'll see. I do have heat YAHOO!! But.... last night after I got off work (I work for a stone quarry) I was going up the road, turned on my headlights, turned on the heat, turned on the heater fan, then my car started loosing power and nearly stalled. I turned the heat & fan off and she picked right back up. (I forgot my lights were on). When I turned the heat and fan back on same problem. This morning I left before my husband and was going down the road to work. Lights were on heat was blowing toes were nice and toasty. When I had gone about 3 miles the temp gauge went past 1/2 to almost the red, the car started to loose power again. I turned everything off and she was fine. Went a few more miles toes got cold so I turned the heat back on with the fan and same problem. I finally decided my toes would have to suffer and drove to work shivering. She ran fine. Does anyone have any suggestions other than my husband's to push my car off the quarry high wall and into the pit? Sandy
