Coolant Level Sensor
Apparently there are (2) types of coolant level sensors. Can anyone confirm what I would need for a '97 328is with a production date of 10/96? I'm looking at part number 613 18 360 855, but not sure if that is correct.
Thanks! |
The description on Pelican indicates that part #855 is for your production date. The other part I saw was not for your prod date.
The part you listed is the same one I used and the desc lists my prod date too. I usually confirm all my purchases with realoem. |
Here is some info about replacing the connector instead.

I didn't understand the point of the "harness" or "connector". The issue with the bad sensor is a sticking float right? IMO, I thought I needed to replace the whole sensor, so I wouldn't have a sticking float. As long as the sensor is the right one for my car, the connector should be plug & play with the new sensor. Or am I missing something?

I cant remember all of what is discussed in that thread.
I replaced my sensor and it didn't fix my problem. Here are the ideas I've seen so far: 1) replace the sensor 2) replace the connector 2) replace the tank I had a chunk of loose plastic in my tank. I has been proposed that it is possible for the divider to break and let water pass between the chambers rather than keeping one much more full than the other. One idea is to zip tie the float "UP" to eliminate the broken tank divider possibility. If you did this with a new float you could prove it is the connector or between the connector and the ecu. This is a common problem without a straight forward fix, AFAIK. |
Alright, I'm gonna start with a new sensor first, then move to the other alternatives if that doesn't do the trick. Thanks again.
