e30 with broken timing belt history 4 sale- should i buy it or stay away
I'm going to look at a 87 325is that had a timing belt failure a couple years ago- the PO said that at the time the belt broke- the valve train was rebuilt and has run well ever since- is this a reason to stay away from the car- could it have damage from t belt failure that will surface and make me miserable or looking at a full rebuild? The car has 114k miles looks to be in good overall condition- but was just wondering if I should stay away due to this? What do you guys think- she's asking 3000.

If the PO had not told you about the 'problem' then you would not have known anything was wrong. Instead you are now looking at a car that has a rebuilt head. I wouldn't let that deter me from buying the car.
The price should be based on the overall condition of the car. The nicer the car the more $$. For 3K I'd prefer not to have to do to many repairs to bring it up to snuff. Best of luck! |

As long as they did a thorough repair job, I wouldn't let affect your decision.
