M50 Headwork

Can someone explain to me the process of replacing the lifters? I'm not sure even where they go. I am doing a headgasket job and will replace the m50 cams for the s50 cams. Any suggestions on what type of hydralic lifters I should use??

The stock ones should be fine. The old saying was match lifters and cams together (old to old and new to new). I'm not sure if this applies as much with the BMW's setup - there wasn't much lifter wear at all last time I replaced my head gasket...

thanks, I looked up the lifters on realoem.com and they are cheaper price, any idea why? Also, what type of extra work is involved to replace these? DO I need any more special tools?
