please help-a/c problem!

much gratitude and thanks to anyone that can help me with this:

i have a 1987 BMW 325is and my aux fan will not come on when i turn on the a/c, thus no cold air.

i have been reading articles saying to change the aux fan resistor, which i have...a friend of mine checked the fan by running a "straight wire" to the fan and the fan came on, which indicates that the fan is working...

please tell me what could be the problem and what else do i need to do to get the fan to work come on and work properly?

thanks so very much to anyone that could help me figure this out...

check fuses and not sure but there may be a relay too!

bimmer_gurl, I had the same problem in my 928. It ended up being a relay.
islandmanpa, is that 78 911sc a grey market car? Was it hard to get it titled?

Yes, it was titled in Georgia prior to my purchase, so I guess the answer is no.
