Stumble just off idle

I have an '88 325iX touring (E30 4WD wagon), with about 130,000kms on it...well maintained and no major problems except fuel mileage, (which might have somthing to do with full time 4 wheel drive and my right foot)....and there has always been an engine stumble just off idle....
I'm thinking TPS??? anyy other educated guesses on where to start?

Thanks,

Sean

You took your prediction right off the tip of my tongue. The syptoms you are describing seem to be in line with your diagnosis. FWIW, I had this problem in my previous vehicle and it was the indeed TPS. Hope I helped out.

Typical stumble issues revolve around the plugs, spark plug boots, coil packs and TPS. Any one could be at fault. I replaced plugs and spark plug boots only to find out it was the coil packs on mine!

I've done plugs, wires, cap, rotor a couple of times as a course of regular maintaince...the '88 only has one coil...and it seems to work...maybe I'll splurge on one of those too....
