HELP! E30 Electrical Problems

The instrument cluster on my 87 325 stopped working.

I replaced the NiCad batteries on the maintenence cluster board.

Now the Tach and fuel economy gauge only work for about 5 seconds after the car has been started, then go dead.

ALSO the heater fan only works for the first 5 sec after startup.

Any suggestions?

Hey man, check your fuses, mine was doing the same thing. I can't remember what 3 the guy told me to check, but you need to pull them out and check them. I tried to check the fuses in place with a fuse checker that came in the box of fuses and they checked out ok, I pulled them and checked them individually and found the problem. If I find the forum I'll let you know which 3 to check.

So...

What only runs for a few seconds after start up and is linked to the ignition switch?
