e30 instability under acceleration

Probably a dumb question but:

Under moderate to hard acceleration, my e30 lately has been pulling right or left then stops during shifting then resumes while under hard acceleration again through the first few "torquey" gears. Almost feels like holding onto a horse. Hard braking seems stable enough. Would this be a differential bushing deal? Transmission bush? The dreaded sub-frame and rear trailing arm bushings? Any thoughts or prior experiences appreciated. I'd really rather not drop the whole rear end. Thanks

I'm more familiar with E36's

transmission no
diff doubtful
rear trailing arm bushing likely
sub-frame damage maybe

It could also be a bad alignment. Maybe no toe or one side out/in and the other straight.

Are you sure it isn't always to the same side? It seems silly, but the tire pressures are approx the same right?
