E36 differential and subframe broken from chassis....
My 1992 E36 Dinan 3 has ripped the differential carrier mounting points from the cars subframe. I know this is a common problem and can be fixed but is there someone who might make a repair kit for this or is it gonna be an extreme fabrication exercise.
The parts fiche shows the broken frame parts as available, but it looks like the easiest way to do it is to cut these parts to fit and then weld. What I'm looking for is what procedures have been used to fix the problem. Have the equipment and enough knowledge being a former (or re-formed) mechanic and digging in is not a problem. Thanks, and I'll try to have some pics of the problem up in the next few days. |
I think Turner Motorsport sells reinforcement kits.

Thanks, Turner and Dinan are both on my list for Monday morning.

Waiting for Dinan to call back with any info they have.
Also ordered the reinforcement kit from Turner but it looks like I'll need to do a little fabrication work before the plates get fitted and welded. I'll post pics of the operation in case anyone is interested. Looks like a good sized job. |
