318is M44 Coupe

Have 1997 318is with M44 engine and Bosch Motronic M5.2 OBD II.

Car has been extensively rebuilt after a close encounter with a guard rail.

Car start and runs normally when cold. However after it warms up, Idle surges between 900-1300 rpm. Have disconnected the O2 and Air inlet temp with no effect. Disconnecting the electrical lead to the ICV (Bosch 13-41-435-846-M14) allows the idle to settle at 900 rpm. The water temp and cooling fan operate normally.

I have taken the ICV off and applied 12V to the both of the terminals and observed the valve opening and closing.

I have purchased a new Bosch ICV, but before installing, I would like to check and confirm the voltage eminating form the ECU to the ICV.

Does anyone know these values and how to check?

Any one with a similar problem, and how to check ECU (DME)?

Thanks,

Frank

Disconected the battery; removed old ICV, installed new ICV; removed, inspected, re-installed TPS; reconnected the battery, and it now idles perfectly. Back on the road again.
