1996 328 i BMW Alternator
I need help finding amperes on my 1996 BMW 328i built in May 96 .
I cannot read the amps on the alternator . Anyone know if it is 80 apms or 140 ? I want to order from our host but can't figure it out . Anyway to tell without removing it from the car? I have used a mirror but still can't read anything yet . Any advise will be much appreciated . Vinnie from Ventura

If it is a bosch, its under the plastic duct cover on the voltage regulator/brush cartridge.
By the way that usualy is all that is wrong with them. it is held on by two screws and costs about 20 bucks. I have done it several times. I always take it to the local parts joint and have them put it on the test bench when I finish. Works every time for me.
