Engine Died

I have a 92 325iC, earlier this week when I would start the car, the idle started acting up, not maintaining a consitant level. Tonight on the highway the engine died. The car sounds like it wants to turn over, but not getting any fire. Anyone ever have this problem or know what it might be?

Thanks!

If you think that it is electrical, then it could be ignition coil or timing belt. Otherwise, it could be the fuel pump.

Just had the timing belt replaced last year. Also noticed when the car was low on gas, the low level light indicator flickered instead of staying on.

Can you tell whether the spark is getting to your plugs, as well as fuel?

I decided to change the fuel filter before tackling the fuel pump replacement. Suprise suprise that fixed the problem and the car started right up. The fuel filter had never been replaced by the previous owner.
