Chain Tensioner question

I just replaced the upper tensioner in my 97 m3. I didn't notice if there was any kind of gasket or o-ring on the oil passage between the head and the tensioner. Can anyone tell me if there is before I take the thing apart again?

You are talking about the upper tensioner on the secondary chain between the two cams?

I dont recall any seal or O-ring, just metal to metal. I did the job this summer and I'm 99% sure.
