Best headlight upgrade for E30?

Hey folks, I'm finally getting around to repairing my '89 325 which Bambi attempted to destroy. The headlights were apparently an upgrade, with lenses that magnified the beam. They also had replaceable bulbs. Well they were they best headlights I've ever driven behind.
But now it's time to replace them and there's a staggering variety of stuff available. Would like to hear from anyone's personal experience.
There's a lot that comes from the far east, and is of dubious quality....
