Automatic trans. Can it work after a motor swap from '92 325 to '93 325

The swap from a '92 M50 to a '93 M50 was successful but the tranny has no first gear. I don't know the history of the transmission or the car as it was bought for the sole purpose of putting a good motor to use. I noticed that the tranny computer is different between the '92 to the '93 in a few areas such as needing a signal from the TPS sensor. Are the present engine and tranny compatible? I have 3 other 5-speed BMW's so I am not starved for the manual tranny sensation. It is in a friend's shop waiting for the 5-speed tranny swap but I thought I would give it one last try here for a definitive answer. He is of the opinion that that auto trans. in is near perfect shape mechanically.
