325iS driveshaft vibration damper

Hello All,

The victim in question is my 1987 325iS (build date 02/87). I'm going to be putting a new driveshaft in soon and I'm wondering about the vibration damper. I've seen some mention of throwing this part out and was wondering if others have done this and if they've had any problem without it.

Mine is chewed up from a past guibo failure and I'm thinking it may be part of my vibration problem.

vibration bad, damper good

I personally don't like vibration - in my car.

I'd replace it. I'd be worried that the vibration would screw up the transmission exit shaft and differential pinion bearings - then you're into a way bigger job. If you are feeling vibration in the car, those forces are being transmitted through the damper and those two anchor points.

Just my opinion.
