E36 316 i doesn't start

Hi,

I need some help on a BMW 316 I E36 Nov 97 Model. The car only cranks but it does not start. I have sent it to BMW Swaziland with no joy. They say it does spark on all plugs & the injectors a functioning properly, i.e., petrol goes trough but it still wont run. The compression on the engine is ok except on one piston where they reckon it is slightly less. Any suggestions. This car has not been running for more than 6 months now and I request for urgent help.

Regards

They must be wrong.

The most common cause of a phantom no start is Crank position sensor.

Does it try to start with starting spray?

Thanks Jeron for your prompt response. Unfortunately i am a layman on cars, i will find out from the BMW mechanic if it tries to start with a starting spray. They have also said if you leave the car unattended for a day or two, when you start it runs for a few seconds then goes off.

If you use spray, take the MAF sensor off, It will ruin it.

Dun it.

You took it to the dealer, and they said it was fine?
All except for the won't run thing?

I hope you didn't give them any money.
