How to test MAF, T-position sensor

hi every one, does anybody know how and if the MAF can be tested?? or hot to test the different fuel/system. I have a multimeter but don't know specs (95-325i) I have a fault code refering to the mass air flow sensor, when I clean the thing hesitation goes away for a few hrs, than it comes back, I have check air hoses, boots, and cleaned the ICV, Thanks guys.

Those tests are not hard, but that is a LOT of words to type in here. Perhaps a better question is - does someone in your area have a Bentley manual that you can look at?

Is there a club chapter in your area?

I have found that my Bentley, my 101 Projects, and my Peake tools have all more than paid for themselves through the years - but I have three 3-series cars in the driveway.

Thanks Man, I have a Bentley manual and I have tested the MAF as per manual, but is not a very complete test imho. There is voltage at pin 3 and am not sure what it means ground at pin 1, but pin 1 I used for ground!??, thanks.

A different problem....rpms seem to me are too low, I replaced the ICV, by the way car idles very smooth but rpms are at about 550 to 600, any ideas how to increase or adjust the rpms? is my VANOS unit dying??
