Exclamation welding head?

Hi!

I have 1991 318is- cracked cylinder head near the valve chamber. Do you know where I can fix it? I read in the Wayne’s book that the cylinder head cracked is repairable. Will it last longer this welding? Is it cheaper compare to buy the used one? I live in Pomona, CA. I didn’t know if local machine shop did BMW head. Thank for your response.

It is probably possible, but I doubt that anyone will give you any guarantee on how long the repair will last. A weld is just one more metallurgical insult to a piece of metal that is probably already badly heat damaged. If it were mine, I would not try welding it unless there were no junkyard heads available at all, and a new one was prohibitively expensive.

Is purchasing an already rebuilt cylinder head not an option for you?

Exclamation

Thank You for your concern and advice!!
Thanks Manolito and Yurick. After I read many postings and advices finally I bought the used head ready to put on for $550. Tomorrow I will get it. Hopefully everything will be OK.
Before I install the head, my question is do this car need valve adjustment?
Hey thanks bro
