standard rear springs

hi,

i have a 325td, 1996, e36. last year i broke a rear spring. i called a supplier and had a pair sent over (I'm based in France). i have a feeling they may be incorrect, as the back seems pretty low. is there anywhere i can find out the correct height from the road surface to a given point, like the very edge of the wheel arch maybe. if any one knows of the probable cause please let me know. thanks
