Hey guys got some technical help needed
![]() my father is at home running all these tests so he has a couple questions I coped the e mail -- his questions are at the bottom of all this info -- THanks guys for all the help ![]() I ran some tests on the wiper switch on the part's car. I found the switch connector. It attaches to the steering column and connects to the wiring harness. It has 5 pins. 1: Black w/ Blue 2: Black w/ gray 3; BLACK W/ BROWN 4: Brown 5 Brown w/ purple I applied 12V to the wiring harness end by hooking my probe light to the + end of the battery charger (having the negative terminal hooked to the parts car) Remember the parts car has no power. I got the following results: 1) NOTHING 2) NO LIGHT but I got a relay sound (more on this later) 3) nothing 4) ground (the light went on) 5) ground (the light went on) I went to the switch side and used my meter to check for continuity (wires being hooked together when the switch is in a certain position) Results: Off position: no pins connected (not unexpected) High position Pins 2 and 4 Medium speed Pins 3 and 4 slow speed Pins 1 and 4 washer pins 5 and 4 remember 4 was a ground Results: Switch in parts car works: RELAY Sound: This is huge. This means that there is a POWER relay in the wiper system. This is a normal way to get power to a high draw motor without running it through the switch. This saves you money when you buy the switch. ASK on the forum if the M's have a power relay in the wiper system. IF so, Is it behind the glove box? and what does it look like? and where behind the glove box exactly |
