Fluid leaking from the rear inner axle on 92' 325i e36

Help!!

I had my rear driver axle replaced recently and now it's leaking from the inner part bolts to the differential. Do you think either they forgot to torque down the bolts or forgot to use a new gasket??

Is there a gasket there or should I try to tighten the bolts first???

Please let me know if you know this.

Thanks,

Jat

There are no gaskets there, just two seals and two o-rings, one of each on both sides of the differential. They should have, but do you know whether they changed any of these?

Probably not since they did not mentioned it in the receipt. I crawled underneath the car last night and tighten up those 14mm bolts around the cup to the differential. Let's see if that would stop the leak or it might ran out of fluid and doesn't leak anymore (-:

I wanted to check the fluid on the differential, but was unable to due to lack of 5-point socket in that size - Does anyone know what's the size of the differential filler plug is???

Thanks,

J

Here's a picture to show you guys where the leakage occur. The leakage is inside the red circle toward the bottom of the circle. Is there a seal, gasket, or o-ring that I will need to repair this leakage??

Help!!

Thanks,

J

The differential has a seal for the output shafts on both sides. It looks like those are held by the bearing and seal retainer held by those four bolts in the pic.

If the shop just replaced the axle, don't think they touched those four bolts holding the bearing retainer. They just unbolted the axle by removing those torx head bolts with the yellow arrows.

If the diff output shaft is leaking, it may need a new seal or worst case will need new diff case bearings.
