E21 vs. E30

I've been searching for a 325 and found a good deal on a garaged 1982 320i that needs a new head gasket. Do any of you have any experience with both platforms that you could share to help me decide whether to jump on this good deal or keep looking for a 325? Thank you.

You can get nearly perfect E21's for under $1000.

Honestly, hold out for a good E30.

E21 vs. E30

My father had an E21 when I was a kid and let me drive it once - it was brilliant. However, they are getting pretty old now. I sometimes think about selling my E30 325is, but take it for another drive and change my mind. Get an E30 - a 325is, if you can find a good one.
