I have a 95 ti and today it just started idling between 1100 to 1400 RPM. I took it to the car wash last night and blasted the engine and then today it has a high idle, Any thoughts?
BTW whoever wrote the book 101 things for your 3 series needs to re-write the installation of the engine mounts. It says no tools needed and 20 minutes! Santa is probably gonna leave him a big lump of coal! |

I don't know about your 95, but if I get any water whatsoever on the top of the engine, I have to pull the spark plugs and clean them. Water gets down into the spark plug holes, shorts the ignition, and fouls the plugs out.

EUREKA! I figured it out! Okay the IAC is located below the intake or part of it anyway, and as old as the car is the vacuum lines get brittle and sure enough going into the intake from the IAC the hose was split causing the idle wander. Simple yes praise God, I didn't have to tear it apart. Short term fix - Duct Tape and I will order a replacement hose today.
