Question 325i wont start

Hey guys thanks for being the best bmw site on the web!
First i have a 95 325i and over the summer replaced the head thanks to your great web site. The operation was a great success Now i have a new problem, after a small fender bender where the grill was hardly damaged(a guy backed into me)my car wont start. It ran the day of and after but the second day it wont start. It backfires out the exhaust and sometimes the intake. Any ideals, camshaft sensor,Vanos solenoid,Crankshaft sensor? Any help is appreciated!

Just a thought, has it been raining, and did it damage the car enough to allow rain to wet the engine compartment when driving

The accident sounds unrelated to the problem to me. I would start with fault codes if you have the means. If not you are going to have to see if the fuel pump is working, are you getting fuel to the fuel rail. Check to see if you are getting spark. If it is the crank sensor you won't get spark. I find the safest way to get an idea is starter fluid. I usually take the smaller (crank case vent)hose off of the bottom of the rubber intake elbow and attach another hose, I then spray starter fuid into the elbow VIA the attached hose. This puts the spray downstream of the MAFF sensor.
If it fires check your fuel pump. If not, could be crank sensor. Most sensors won't stop the car from running all together. Crank sensor will.
Did you check fuel pump fuse?
Have you tried jumping out the fuel pump at the relay?
Good places to start.

OK

Compression test? could tell you alot.
Good luck hope you find it.
Not enough info to help much.

Do yourself a favor and consider investing in a code reader. I have one made by Peake Research, it has paid for it'self over and over.

Hi, do you think camshaft sensor malfunction prevent the car starting? My car did not start one morning, after engine stopping a few times earlier days. The code shows camshaft sensor,I am not sure it will prevent the car starting, but I also suspect it may be well fuel filter or pump.
I have ordered camshaft sensor and fuel filter.
Compression test? Can you please tell how?
Thanks
