Replacing struts
For my 1995 325is, I am ordering the following struts (the one below is only the left side)
VE3-4402-H1-M12 What other parts should I get while I am doing this work? Should I get the Strut Mount Gasket for Front Strut Guide Support, 31-33-1-094-288-M9? What about Gasket, for Rear Upper Shock Mount to Body, 33-52-6-772-864-M30? |
Make sure you replace your strut mounts, get strut mount gaskets, upper and lower spring pads, and finally new shock boot and shock boot covers.
For all those parts it will be an extra $120 or so, but if you're going to replace the struts you should replace all I mentioned above and well work it because like your struts, you won't need to replace those things until it's time to replace the struts again 35-50,000 miles down the road. Also, your struts usually come with new nylon nuts, but if they don't, get new ones too. Never use old nylon nuts, especially struts ones that undergo such a beating. |
rambog,
That was a loaded question. That was the way I started my strut upgrade, but one thing lead to another and before I knew it, I replaced ball joints, all bushings, strut bearings, links, rack boots; essentially the complete suspension system. |
