Pedal Assembly Switches E36

There are three of them. The one for the brakes. The one for when the clutch is pushed in, and a third one for when the clutch pedal is not pushed in. What's the third one for? It's the one of the three with the white harness socket.

I just changed out my clutch master and in the process I broke the tab off the clutch pedal that would push this switch. I cannot figure out what would need to know when the clutch is not pushed.

The two things that need to know about your clutch position are the starter and the cruise control. The starter works only when the clutch is depressed, and the cruise control works only when the clutch is fully up.
