Having trouble 97 328is

Hello

I have a 97 328is. It is a high mileage car. 208k , mostly highway.
I bought it from the original owner who had all service records and
a spreadsheet of repairs and service. Since I got it I have put on rear
discs and pads(BMW parts from dealer),new tires and a intake bellows.
It has never been raced or abused,I worked with the man i bought it from for
8 years and his wife drove it most of the time. In the last week and a half
I am getting a strange deep clunk from the left rear of the car when turning
corners at a moderate speed (5-15 mph.)
I took it to my brother in laws shop and put it on the lift, i checked all
the mount points on the rear subframe, swaybar mounts, drive shaft,
shocks, front suspension. I made sure the battery and spare were secured
and nothing in the car was loose. I took all the wheels off checked play
in the rear and front bearings and then torqued the wheels down
and made sure i didnt have a broken spring. Then I took all the interior out of the trunk and checked the upper shock mounts and they were ok.
In a highspeed corner like an on ramp it doesnt do it. Just at low speeds.
Is it possible my rear shocks are bad? It happens turning right or left but
i have the rear seats down and i can hear it from the lh side.
Any help will be appreciated

Thank you

If you have isolated the noise and are sure it's coming from the rear left, I would simply check anything that is a part of rotation, or that rotates itself.

Check the integrity of the wheel bearings, check to make sure the calipers are properly secured to the car, check the quality of the upper and lower spring pads and the rear trailing arms and bushings and of course, as you mentioned, check your shocks or have them inspected by a professional.

The fact that it's most notorious at low speeds during turns makes me suspect something to do with the spring(s).

Keep us up to date with your finding good sir.

Thank You

Thank You for the response
I failed to mention that I did notice the the upper spring pads
had alot of wear from the second coil of the top of the spring on them.
I kind of dismissed it because both sides had the same wear patterns.
I have since pulled both rear calipers off and the rotors. There was no end play from the hub that was noticable. No, I did not have a micrometer on it, the tire has been wearing fine since my alignment in November.I would think that a thunk that loud would be apparent in the wear pattern of the tire, However,It wouldnt be the first time i have been wrong.
Thanks for the help !!
