muddy water

My 86 325e over heated the other day and a peanut like stuff came out . after many flushes it has now thinned out. Running synthetic oil and I have noticed that thick crap on my oil filler cap, do I have a blow head gasket or some other problem, it must be a small leakage? thanks for any input.

You more than likely has a cracked head gasket. The fact that you underwent an overheating on a twenty-four year old car and now you have The good news is that with such an old car you'll have a great opportunity to have the header redone so you can enjoy another twenty-four years of smooth sailing on such a fine piece of car.

Some people say that using non-BMW coolants can cause odd discoloration in engine coolant from the special lubricating chemicals they use. Continue to diagnose your problem until you know for sure as the head gasket replacement is definitely not a weekend job if a machine shops involved.
