Angry ignition

hi, my 86 325e bmw.. was spitting and sputtering for about a week thinking it was the fuel filter i went on. 4 days later i could barely get out of 1st gear, it quit, i replaced the rotor button, distrubtior, coil, plugs, wires, i think it is the position sensor on the tranny, that sends ignition signals to the ECU, i got on pelican and tried to ored ONE but it says i need 2,,,,,confused,,,,go t any ideas,, thanks josh93

your model shows 2 necessary...try cleaning the ones you have before buying. Sometimes they can get road crud on them and cleaning will allow them to sense!

You said you thought it was the fuel filter at first, did you change it? Why do you suspect the ignition now?
I ask because I owned a 85 325e from new to almost 500k miles and never had an ignition problem. I had an 88 also. Same motor.
Had a few minor fuel related problems though.
Did it idle at all?
Air intake leaks are a common issue with your car, as are fuel injectors.
I any case the pulse and speed sensor can be checked with a digital OHM meter without removing them from the engine. The resistance value depends on the ignition system, and that can bve determined by the color of the sensor plugs. Black and grey plugs or white and grey. The bell housing should have aB and a D stamped on it to designate what sensor goes where.
