Getting E30 Instrument Cluster out

I have a 91 E30 318is with the SRS system. I'm at the point that the instrument cluster should just slide out but it is hitting the steering column cover. It seems this has to come off too but I can't figure out how to do it. I've taken off the one bolt I can find. Does anyone have experience with this?

I've removed my cluster several times without having to take off the column cover. But my car doesn't have an airbag, so maybe that's the difference. Sorry I can't offer any advice.

If you have the steering wheel off you should not have to take the switch covers off. I have taken the cluster out with the steering wheel on but its not the right way to do it, There is a chance of braking things and the connectors will be harder to get off. To get the covers off you have to take the lower panel off and the steering wheel.
