A Mustang Cobra, or a BMW 528i
The Mustang is more powerful and fun in a straight line, the BMW corners better.
And I'll tell you arrogant BMW nuts here something else, the Ford is WAAAY more reliable. I work for an auto warranty company, adjusting claims of all brands of cars. I see far, far more claims for BMW's, Mercedes, and Audis than I do for Mustangs, even though there are more Mustangs out there on the road. Parts and service for German cars is way higher than for American cars, too. Some BMW shops charge $200 an hour or higher for service. Ford service is roughly half that. My Mustang will hit 140,000 in a few weeks, I drive the hell out of it, and guess what, it's on the original engine and tranny, and it runs perfectly! No leaks or smoking at all! How many 140k beemers can say that?

So, was there a question in there? From your topic I expected a question of some variety
As for your comparison, I can't say much about the 528i as I have not been in one. I am assuming your cobra is Fox body if you have 150k or so. That is a great little car with a very reliable and powerful engine all things considered. Did cobras come stock with sub frame connectors (my 5.0 lx did not)? If not, a set of those, and a mildly lower stance with a corner balance and you have one nice street car that pulls hard and corners like its on rails. BUT... not everybody likes a Mustang and not everybody likes BMWs (or Porsches, etc). Different strokes for different folks my friend.

First, you are in the wrong forum, this forum is for 3 series BMW's, not 5 series BMWs, or Fords for that matter. Second you have made up your mind, and want the Ford, nothing wrong with that, but don't look for support here, go to a Mustang forum. Come back if you purchase a 3 series BMW, and you may find we are an invaluable resource.
But before you go shopping, work on your reading, counting, and comprehensive skills, or you may end up with a Chevy when you wanted a Ford.

why would you compare a cobra to a 528i?Thats like comparing a mini cooper to a minivan. Mustangs gave great drivetrains, but everything else is garbage. They fall apart all around you. Plus you won't get the feel that a german SPORTS car will give you, with the mustang. I liked STV cobras for a while, till I start reading about how ****ty the cars are. The only good thing is the engine and trans. Boo.
