Hello,I have problem with my 318is cupe from 1994 ,DME found full with water,engine can not ignite,fuel pump is Ok,but sparks dosent come every time so engine can not start,
my mechanics told me that DME is not OK ,and after 3 diferent second hand DME replaced same problem every time,Please help for some advice due its very hard to find same DME and my mechanic do not want to make diagnostic due he is surre that DME is not OK?Bosh no. 0 261 203 590

Also to add that DME after drying found without any burned parts,and has properly cleaned by mechanic

This is a tough one. The DME definitely had a problem, as they are not supposed to be full of water. Starting the car with a wet DME will most likely damage the unit. Unfortunately, it may have damaged some other stuff on the car as well when you tried to start it wet. I would check the crank and camshaft sensors, as the engine will not fire spark without these working properly. Also, check the connector to the DME - if that was wet as well, then there may be some rust in there that may be causing the connections from the sensors, coils, and other components to fail to be connected to the DME.
