My hood emblem came off too BMW X5 2006 and it looks like that there are 4 small holes and not 2. Do I need to remove this round metal piece as well and find the "other" holes under there? Or is a different kind? Please help!

I think what happened is your emblem separated into two pieces, and the base piece is still stuck in your hood. The color under the emblem should be the same color as the rest of your hood. If the base is still stuck there, then simply use the "credit card method" to remove the existing base.
