Two '85 318i questions

Today I test drove an '85 318i 2dr with just 85k miles. It's at a dealer and has no service records, but based on the near perfect condition, sunset license plate, and Carfax report, it seems likely it's a one owner car. Everything seemed to work- A/C, cruise, locks, windows, etc. There were only two concerns that kept me from putting the money down right then, and hopefully someone can help me with these questions.

1- the clutch was light and worked fine, but the engagement point was at the very top of the pedal travel, i.e., I barely needed to depress it to engage. Is this likely just an adjustment, or ?

2- the brakes felt a little soft. Is this likely just pad wear or maybe a bleed needed?

Thanks.

A few pics of the car:

The clutch is hydraulic and not adjustable - chances are it will need replacement.

On the brakes, it could be either worn pads, air in system, or both.
