thanks to your help i replaced the head gasket on my 1998 528i the car is running fine but the check engine light came on and code p1519 somthing to do with vanous unit. like i said car is running fine. any suggestions on what i need to do? maybe retime the vanous unit. thanks alot for all your help

Indeed, the VANOS unit may be timed a bit too early (easy to do when reinstalling the unit). I would maybe take it out and see if you can retime it and see if the code goes away. If the unit's timing is off, then you might see reduced power at the upper rpm range.
