My 98 323i convertable recently began having problems. When I close the top it stops short of the front connector on the front above the windseild. Any ideas?

I don't like convertible issues - they can be very difficult to diagnose. In this case, either the adjustment of the top is off, or one of the microswitches in the mechanism probably needs ajustment. These switches tell the roof "computer" that the top is securely stowed away. If they are off a bit, then you can have issuse like these.
