Thank you for posting all your FAQ. 2001 M Roadster with 26,000mi - fuel pump is very loud. Turn key, cycles on, engine starts then pump lowers frequency. Frequency increases with RMP to about 3000 then steady. The fuel system management is supposed to follow the engine demand this way. So it appears the pump is getting all the right juice and I have plenty of power. The tank is 13.2 gallons and I usually fill with 10-12. Why is it so loud? Would you recommend replacing the filter on the pump and the inline filter?

A loud pump could be one of two things. First, it could be a sign that the pump is beginning to fail, so keep an eye on it. Seconly, it could also mean that it's not isolated properly from the chassis. I have an older 1972 911 that a previous owner installed a fuel pump into with no rubber isolation - the thing was so loud, I coudldn't hear anything else! I had the pump put on rubber bushings and it went stone cold quiet. So, with your pump, you might want to check the installation, or rubber seal, etc.
