1986 325 e30 fuel tank question

I just got this car from my aunt and its been sitting for years. There is old gas in the car and needs to be drained.

What is the easiest way to drain it? Is there a drain plug somewhere?

I don't believe there is a drain plug in the gas tank. Your best bet is to pull a gas line (perhaps to the fuel filter) and let it drain there.

You can try and sypon it out, but the line that goes to the filter, is from the pump and that exits from the top of the tank.......you could remove the pump from the access hatch under the rear seat and syphon it out as best you can that way, or use a pump to suck it out.....there is a cross link metal hose under the car, connecting the saddles of each side of the tank, you may be able to disconnect that......get most of it out, change your fuel filter and check the pump suction screen (if you have an intank pump)and fill the tank with clean fuel.....check pump noises (you may have two pumps) and do a fuel pressure test at the regulator....3 barg.

I found the drain plug. It is on the passenger side of the car.

When draining the tank I jacked up the drivers side of the car so we could get out most of the gas. The tank holds 14.5 gallons when full.
