Cluster Problem
 

Hi there,
Yesterday morning I found the needle tachometer not in "0" position, it stop in "1" mark in the gauge, try to switch the key on to "2" position the needle moved to "0" than I try to switched the key off, than within 4 second the needle move to "1" and will repeated once I switch the key off and on.
if I run the engine the needle read the engine speed normally
what went wrong here..

the batteries already change but the problem remain the same,have check the pulse sender from MCU it work normal as it is , after cut the Power in the blue socket the tacho will sit at "0" after re connect the problem remain the same, is it possible because of Si board defective or something else :(

been there, my 88 cabro did the same thing. replaced the batteries and still, no tach. found a suposidly good si board on ebay, and still no tach, odomited or fuel economy guage. found a used cluster on line, and thewy even set the miles for me to the old cluster.

if you would like i will try to find the site i got it from. been 6 or 7 years.

bro the weird thing is tacho,EC,Temperature,spedo and fuel woks normal. my problem will happen once the ign. switch turned off than the needle will move to "1" with in 4 second.

Check the nuts holding the cluster together. They are the ground points for the cluster. If they are loose, it wont ground correctly.

Your problem doesnt sound like the SI board, it sounds more like a sensor or a loose conection is giving eronious information to the tach. The tach gets its signal from the ecm and the ecm gets its information from the crank positon sensor.
If it turns out to be a bad tach, i have one I dont need. I dont have the car anymore.

bro, appreciate with picture if Possible, if you mean the nut which hold the Temp.control and Fuel level indicator, they already have a good grounding.

and for the sender from MCU, already cut out the wire..remain the same

It is in GPM, US version. It worked when removed. You can have it. The only thing I know about indonisia is it is not close to Florida. Next time your around, let me know, I'll leave it on the front porch.

thanks Bro, I have no plan to come to Florida in short time . if possible to have it, the Freight bill I will pay , but give me an Idea for total cost.
