stuck in Park, Solenoid working fine

doubt it's the brake switch, can see the solenoid working fine when brakes applied, but can't even shift the lever at all? Gear shifter knob spins and can't really depress the "switch"? or button on the front side of it like normal before shifting, knob just spins, cant move level, but can see the shift lock soleoid bein activatyed propertly and have brake lights confirmed. Do I need to take off this shifter knob, did something bust off inside that actuatyes something that allows it to move? If so, can't see anyway to remove, justpull?

Garage
Just pull it off. There is a plastic lock mechanism in there that could be broke. The knob should not spin.

Yep, the plastic "lever" that goes down the middle of the shaft was cracked off and was not being released when pushed the button on the shiftknob. Must have done that when messing around trying to get off the knob to remove the panel to access the shift/lock solenoid. Solenoid was Not working intitially which is what stranded my daughter, had to unplug it to get the car home, but is working now, wondering if the brake switch is jacked up and will come back to haunt me in the future, but all working exactly fine now.
